About the GPET

The Graduate Program in Educational Technology (GPTE) offers a classroom-based stricto sensu graduate course at the master’s level, governed by the terms of the Virtual University Institute’s regulations, the general rules of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), and the General Regulations.
The GPET focuses on Educational Technology, which consists of developing studies and practices aimed at contributing to teaching and learning processes through technological resources. In this way, it aims to create a culture of innovation in education in educational institutions through research, construction, and use of tools, techniques, and methods geared toward solving real problems related to education and meeting social, organizational, and professional demands. This area should also be understood as a set of processes, methods, and techniques for addressing issues in educational practice, in addition to contributing to the dynamics of learning, in accordance with the academic and curricular design of the Federal University of Ceará.

General Objectives

To provide training for teachers and other professionals to articulate the mastery of contemporary technologies, technical and scientific knowledge, applied research, and educational practices in the production and dissemination of innovative solutions related to the use of digital technologies in education, aiming to solve real problems relevant to teaching and learning and to meet social, organizational, and professional demands.

Specific Objectives

  • To foster the development of innovative projects based on the principle of incorporating educational technologies into teaching and learning processes, enabling continuous training and/or ongoing updating on technological advances in the field;
  • To promote, through scientific research, experiences that contribute to the generation of innovative pedagogical practices through the incorporation of specialized knowledge;
  • Enable the integration of teacher training and emerging educational technologies as a way to produce innovation, transformation, and continuous improvement in education, meeting specific demands and productive arrangements with a view to national, regional, and/or local development;
  • Foster the ability to articulate teaching and learning processes through information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the management and/or mediation of pedagogical processes in formal, informal, and non-formal spaces.

Graduate Profile

With regard to the graduate profile, students are expected to develop the following skills:

  • Development and/or application of new technologies in teaching and learning in formal, non-formal, and informal environments;
  • Ability to continuously update their knowledge considering advances in digital technologies, focusing on technical and scientific production in applied research and proposing innovations and technological improvements in education.
