ABOUT THE COURSE

1) How will students be assessed in the Master’s degree courses?

The assessment of academic performance in the curriculum components always covers the aspects of attendance and efficiency. The evaluation will be at the discretion of the instructor responsible for the curricular component and will be carried out by one or more of the following means of assessment: test, exam, assignment, project, as well as effective participation in the proposed activities. Students who receive a grade of 5.0 or higher in each subject will be considered to have passed.

2) Are Master’s students entitled to a Final Assessment (FA) as in undergraduate courses?

The decision is up to each teacher. At the beginning of each component, students will be duly informed about what will be required of them to build their grade.

3) Regarding foreign language proficiency: is it mandatory for all students? Which languages are accepted? Where can the proficiency test be taken? What is the deadline for demonstrating foreign language proficiency? What should be done after passing the test?

PPGTE students must demonstrate proficiency in at least one (1) foreign language. Accepted languages are: English, Spanish, or French. The foreign language proficiency test can be taken at the UFC Foreign Culture Centers, or equivalent. The maximum period for demonstrating proficiency is 18 (eighteen) months from the date of the student’s admission to the PPGTE. After passing the test, the student must send their declaration of approval to the secretariat’s email (ppgte@virtual.ufc.br). After the declaration has been verified, the activity will be updated in SIGAA as completed (note: proficiency is an activity, so no grade is assigned, only credits and hours).
